SCHEDULE A BAPTISM
At Faith Church, we baptize those who are converted to Christianity later in life and covenant children, the children of believing parents. Long ago, God said to Abraham, “I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you” (Gen 17:7). From the beginning of the biblical story, children have been included in the covenant community; God has been at work in families. Under the old covenant, children received the mark of circumcision; under the new covenant, they receive the mark of baptism (Col 2:11-12).
When we baptize children, we are not suggesting that the water washes away their sin, nor are we claiming that they possess saving faith at the moment of their baptism. Primarily, baptism declares not something about us, but something about God; not what we do, but what God has done, is doing, and will do for us. Baptism, like salvation, is God-centered, not human-centered. Whether administered to teenage or adult converts or to covenant children, baptism has the common function of directing us to the God of sovereign grace who determined to save us not only before our baptism but also before creation. God loves us long before we could ever love him.
Typically, we have three baptism celebrations each year: Easter Sunday, our Summer Beach Service, and Christmas Eve. If you have questions about baptism, or if you would like to schedule a baptism for yourself or your child, please contact Chrissy Wyant.
